
Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota - Mankato ChapterOpportunities for Volunteers Description: Crew leaders lead a group of 4-6 crew members in completing a specific task. Crew leaders are the teachers on the work site. Skills needed includde communication skills and some construction knowledge. Crew leaders meet with the Construction Manager and Volunteer Coordinator to ask questions and understand the work site process. Title: Volunteer Host/Safety Person Description: This job requires that you can sign people in and have the appropriate paperwork in place for the volunteer, orient volunteers to the site and watch for safety concerns and issues while on the work site. Training will be provided. Title: Recycling Committee Member Description: This committee is responsible for the implementation and growth of the committee that utilizes funding from the collection of aluminum cans to assist with the building of Habitat homes. Title: Church Relations Committe Member Description: Assisting the committe in creating and strenghtening the partnership Habitat for Humanity has with the faith communities of Mankato and South Central Minnesota. Responsibilities may include: contacting individual churches, making presentations, planning church related events and offering encouragement to church leaders. Title: Building/Construction Committe Member Description: This committee exists to develop the affiliate's standarized house plans and manage all phases of construction. The members of this committee work directly with Habitat's partner families to develop a home that is appropriate and comforatble, while working with specific lot, building practices and material requirements. Title: Family Partners Committee Member Description: The purpose of the Family Partners Committee is to help families break the cycle of poverty and become independent. This committee seeks to welcome new families into Habitat and provide them with a mutual continued partnership, homeownership educational opportunties, information regarding the closing process, as well as a forum for discussions regarding homeownership and related habitat polices and procedures.
