Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota - Mankato ChapterDonations
Would you like to help the environment while
also helping to build more homes for those in need? This program allows money from recycled aluminum to go directly into a Habitat fund to build more homes and protecting the environment. We are looking for
organizations, churches, schools, companies, clubs and any other
locations willing to host recycling bins. Our affiliate has all of
the necessary materials and we would love to talk to you about setting up
a recycling center at your location. Our Habitat affiliate recycles ink jet and laser printer cartridges and also cell phones as a fundraising project. You may drop off your cartridges at the Habitat office, 1751 Bassett Drive. Postage-paid boxes or bags bearing our code number are easily obtained by any business or organization wishing to participate.
Construction Costs The average cost of building each house to our
affiliate is about $110,000. Much of the money used to cover these costs
comes from contributions by individuals. Every donation is tax deductible
and stays with the affiliate long after the next house is built. This
happens because all the money put into a particular Habitat home returns
to the affiliate as the homeowners repays their no-profit, zero interest
mortgage. This means that every gift given will continue to build more
houses.
Unless otherwise specified, your money doesn't stop there. Each affiliate tithes with Habitat International to build houses in other countries. For about 10% of the average cost of a house in the United states, Habitat can build another house in a developing country. Habitat of South Central Minnesota tithing supports Habitat for Humanity of Tanzania.

We can
also utilize material donations to help reduce our building costs. Quality
new or used supplies, such as lights, lumber, trim, doors, and other
building material can all help us get one house closer to ending
substandard housing in South Central Minnesota. We are also always on the
lookout for land. With multiple building sites, we have put together a "wish list" of additional tools we will need. These include: Pneumatic framing nailers Scaffolding 16' Scaffolding Fiberglass ladders Planks Power Tools We continually seek donations of labor from related trades. We are specifically searching for donations of building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, or even help with draft house plans, etc. To set up a material donation or to volunteer individually or as a group please call the office at 507-388-2081.
